It is just trashy because they could have created something that looks much better. Still, it is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem with the design is the lack of flairs.

Sure, you could also argue that the lack of a cover photo is pretty bad too, but without all the categories you are basically searching through all the content. At least they should have flairs for pictures and videos so that people can choose to just see pictures instead of all the videos on the platform. There are some flairs on the sub, but most of them seem to be inactive, and people do not use any of them at all. It is not even the case that the flairs could be useful either. They are just there and the main assumption here is that there was probably an attempt to create a flair and genre system, but it quickly fell apart.
