Founded on 23rd of June, 2005, Reddit.com is a website everyone has heard about. It is known as social networking, discussion, and news website, covering all kinds of topics/niches. It all started when two University students (Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman) decided to create a sandwich ordering app. After pitching the idea unsuccessfully, Paul Graham, an employee at Y Combinator, told them to create the “front page of the internet”. That is how Reddit came to be.

The name of the website is a play on words, ‘read-it’. In the beginning, fake accounts were used to submit text posts and web links to Reddit, and every post would have an option to label it as interesting or uninteresting. Today we know that option as like/dislike or upvote/downvote. Reddit is separated into thousands of sections, which are called subreddits.

The first subreddit that was ever created was called NSFW, meaning Not Safe For Work. Most of the subreddits that are labeled with NSFW contain some sort of pornographic content or anything that is not suitable for minors. The reason why NSFW was the first subreddit is to simply take all the nudity off of the front page of Reddit.com.

The Reddit community is known as Redditors, and they are allowed to create their own subreddits. However, one cannot deny that the design is great, as everything is where it should be. There is an option to view this website with a dark layout, which makes browsing so much easier on the eyes.

As it was mentioned, every subreddit looks the same but offers different content. The browsing options are on top of the site, and you get more options if you register. If you are searching for a particular subreddit, you can use the big search box on top and search by the name of Reddit. This is where they could have added better search options.

The easiest way to search for a particular subreddit is to simply use Google, write what you are searching for and add ‘subreddit’. As for those who were simply searching for the best place to enjoy homemade pornographic videos, you could simply check out r/homemadexxx/.

Considering that there are about 1.2 million subreddits, and about 138k of them are active, having additional search options would have been easier. Other than searching for the subreddits by their name, there are no search options. However, there are some subreddits that have filter search options on the side of the subreddit. The registration is simple, and once you are a Redditor, you can comment, like/dislike and make your own posts.
