We have found that porn blogs are and have always been curious things. After all, they combine the two of the most popular things on the internet – general gossip and opinion from anonymous writers and sex.

However, just as with most things which are easy to do, finding quality and skill is rather rare. Further, from the research that we have done that despite the fact that porn blogs are almost as old as the internet itself, the level of quality has not changed much on the net.

That said, we have managed to find at least a few smut-focused blog sites that have not only always been good but improved considerably over time. One example of this is the porn blog giant Fleshbot.

From The Ashes Of The Dot Com Bubble…

Y2K brought with it equal parts speculation, optimism, and paranoia, and arguably nowhere was that better illustrated than what immediately precipitated and followed it with the build-up to and bursting off the Dot Com Bubble.

Circa March 2000, once highly profitable websites fell or desperately needed to be rehabilitated all over the world. A few came out relatively unscathed, but for over four years, it was a risky proposition to create or invest a new net-based business venture.

Fortunately for smut junkies everywhere, Nick Denton founded Gawker Media and, among many other successful and not too mention controversial, websites cropped up during that era. One of the first of them, Fleshbot.com, was launched in late 2003 to discuss, critique, and promote everything related to the documentation of sex online.

And rather than just be limited to focusing on the (professional) porn industry like some competitors, Fleshbot covered the emerging market of amateur porn and sex (both explicit and softcore) in mainstream entertainment and in pop culture generally. Furthermore, this blog included coverage of straight sex as well as queer – i.e., both lesbian and gay – sexuality.

While this may have seemed risky since this was a time before high-speed internet, this was also during the advent of the celebrity sex tape and ubiquity of non-graphic erotica on television and in film. After all, the (in)famous sex video 1 night in Paris starring Paris Hilton and Rick Salomon came out about a year after Fleshbot went live. This is also around the same time that gay activism became common in many regions all over the world.

Moving on, over the years, the company has seen changes in leadership as well as its shares of highs and lows. For instance, in 2011, it was reported by both Gawker Media founder Nick Denton and the site's editor-in-chief and brief owner, Lux Alptraum, that Fleshbot was underperforming financially. As a consequence, the site went up for auction and, although Alptraum was retained as a contributing editor, was purchased by SK Intertainment.

 But despite all of that, with such a broad focus on erotic entertainment and sexual commentary – in addition to extensive upgrades, content additions, and other positive changes – Fleshbot has become one of the premier porn blogs today.

The Design Is Both Dainty And Dank

And we should also mention dirty – but only in the sense that erotica enthusiasts love.

For example, as soon as you are taken to the homepage, you are not first required to verify your age like the typical porn site requires. Instead, you are treated to a bevy of beautiful promotional photos of pornographic images about the most recent developments in the sex industry.

And keeping with the Fleshbot brand image, you are shown the full range of content which they provide – in other words, straight, gay, and trans. Of course, with a convenient filter tab featured prominently at the top of each page, you can easily toggle between each specific sexuality. Besides that, you can also the types of blog posts within a certain category.

The Main Draw Does Not Disappoint

While there are plenty of previews and promotionals, the main focus of Fleshbot is to comment on videos, photo galleries, sex tapes, etc. While we are sure that some smut enthusiasts might suspect that Fleshbot's posts are nothing but boring text fests, we feel that the combination of commentary and cum-filled visual content hits the right balance.

GIF of the Day – We feel that everybody loves GIFs nowadays, especially when they are of a sexually graphic nature. If you are like us, then you will absolutely enjoy getting treated to fresh clips of fornication. And yes, they feature a wide range of fetishes for your enjoyment.

Porn Review – Of course, Fleshbot would not be much a sex-related website with regular critiques and recommendations of the latest and hottest smut produced by the industry. Each installment in this series not only includes short but sweet descriptions but also teasing trailers to match.

A Guide To… – As we mentioned before, besides porn Fleshbot is noteworthy for discussing all things related to human sexuality. In fact, compared to many other sex-oriented blogs, their regular posts on how to improve your sex life with expertly crafted content is another factor that makes this platform stand out.

Fleshlinks – While the consistency of the quality of Fleshbot's content is impressive, and so too is the volume, they are not above promoting other people's work. Granted, most of the content they do link to is owned by or an affiliate of SK Intertainment, but that should not dissuade you from checking out the lovely links found in these posts.

Top Ten… & Top Five… – Most denizens of the net are by now aware of the trend towards ranking everything in some sort of list. In keeping with this trend, Fleshbot posts blogs semi-regularly of various porn performers, fetishes, and other sex-related things into some kind of ranking.

Do some of them come off a little cliché? Yes, we think so, but they are still well-written and surprisingly entertaining.

Throw Back Thursday – Since the porn industry is so old, we have found that even the most seasoned smut aficionados miss out on some of the great erotic content from yesteryear. Fortunately, Fleshbot has a weekly series devoted to covering vintage erotic, so we do not have to.

This Week In… – Speaking of vintage, this is another semi-regular blog series that looks at significant events in the distant and recent past which occur at the intersection of pop and porn culture.

Fleshbot’s Sex Toy of the Week – Another thing we often find lacking on many sex sites, including some porn blogs, are in-depth articles about adult toys. Sure, it is not uncommon to find websites hosting ads or even possessing e-stores to sell them. However, there are not enough thorough descriptions of how to feel, how they stack up to alternative items, or how one item may compare to the same type of a different brand.

Fleshbot’s writers, however, do fairly well in this area where many other websites of the same kind so often fall short. To be sure, the articles are not terribly thorough, but rather are just long enough to give the reader good insight into what they are in for if they put up the cash for the described sexual stimulator.

Guest & promoted posts – Fleshbot’s current editorial staff seems to understand that success on the internet means cooperating, and therefore linking to, other web platforms. This is especially vital when it comes to the highly competitive online sex industry.

So, it is not uncommon to see, but depending on the time of year, very often, you will find guest posts from other indie bloggers or even whole articles from other established websites. This usually happens during major holidays, but can happen at any time and include posts from other porn blog legends like Mr. Skin and Mr. Man.

And There Is Content For All Orientations

Speaking of gay blogs, there are two entire sections devoted exclusively to gay and trans sex culture. Just like the “main” straight page, you are going to find the same level of quality as well as a recurring series of blog posts. Examples include the same seen on the straight section like Fleshlinks, Gif of the Day, and guest posts from other sites.

Besides that, there are original blog series like Open Post, which asks hypotheticals from the readers about potential sex scenarios, and there is a good bit about the "porny" bits of pop culture, which lean heavily queer. Examples include reviews of scenes from the American television program Rivendale, posts from the world over of the men of Instagram – both famous and not – and even commentary on homosexual politicians.

However, we should also add that the trans section is largely focused on MtF sex culture. It is also noteworthy that there is a lot of promotion for the sites TS Seduction and Trans 500, though surprisingly few posts not related to porn platforms.

You Can Sort Results By Blog Category

In order to make sorting through all of the many blog posts – both in terms of general volume and series – simpler for the reader, you can get access to them by category. While not as vast as the category section you are going to see on a porn site, there is a good list to choose from being the categories found on all variations of the site…

Pornstars – Though focused on porn, this category spotlights up-and-coming stars as well as established names in the industry. Interested in keeping up with a starlet or stud whom you fancy? Check this page out regularly.

Porn Galleries & Hardcore – Instead of focusing on individual performers, these categories show copious amounts of picture and video previews from fresh adult film releases.

Editorial Features – This section is a mix-mash of amateur and professional erotic content, which, rather than reading like promotional affiliate marketing, comes off as the editors' genuine opinion about what they personally find arousing in recent raunchy releases.

Podcast – Only accessible through the Straight section, this category hosts all direct links to the best porn and adult entertainment news podcasts and interview programs on the net. That is, all two of them – the Mr. Skin podcast, as well as assorted interviews of pornstars conducted by Bustin Theroux.

Lesbian – Obviously, this one is only found in the Straight section of the site and, as expected, only contains posts about lesbian porn and threeway (as in FMF) porn. However, we could not help but think, "shouldn't this be in the Gay section?"

We should also add that there are several links to friends of the site located at the top right of each page. In fact, they are some of the best sites which we have reviewed, including Mr. Skin, Ego All-Stars, Naked News, and a famous gay porn blog Mr. Man.

You Can Follow Fleshbot On Social Media

Despite being a porn blog, surprisingly, Fleshbot not only has a presence on Twitter but also the far more conservative social media platform Facebook. Of course, much more explicit content can be found on the former, but the latter posts links to a good deal of erotic content generally not seen on the main site.

If you want to keep up with their general newsletter, there is a link to that near the bottom left-hand side of each page. And naturally, Fleshbot's Instagram feed is a combination of links to their own articles, affiliated porn blogs, new porn scenes, and toys in their sex shop.

And There Is A Phenomenal E-Store

From what we gather, many of our readers are a big fan of sex toys. We are not sure if that means that most of them are major kinksters or desperate virgins, but whatever the case, FleshbotShop has quite the selection.

Like the main site, there are several search and filter features to make finding your next self-pleasing purchase easier. Besides the well-crafted built-in search engine, you can sort items by which are most popular, newly released, and top-rated as well as by function on the left-hand menu bar. By that, we mean that you can select from items labeled as lubricants, anal toys, items for couples or a specific gender, etc.

All things considered, Fleshbot looks great on all devices though there are a few differences between them. On mobile devices, the links to the blog's sister site are not easy to get to due to the cookie notification bar, though this is largely a trivial issue, in our opinion. But of course, once you click ‘I accept' you can easily access that menu

Having said that the e-store looks and runs great on both versions, and there are no other major discrepancies. So, we think you will have a good time viewing this site using any device.

What We Like About Fleshbot

In addition to everything mentioned before, there are a few minor features which make Fleshbot unique and also vastly improve the user's experience. For example, at the bottom left-hand side of the screen, there is a button called top which will auto scroll your window to the top of the page – very convenient since this site has an infinite scroll feature.

What We Hate About Fleshbot

It is rare that we cannot find something substantive to critique a website on, but Fleshbot does seem to be one of those exceptions.

There are minor aesthetic issues with the mobile version, and the desktop features minor design choices which we would alter. It should also be noted that depending on your browser and internet speed, there may be a delay on the load time for blog articles if you continuously infinite scroll.

However, there really is not anything that we think would detract from a user's experience of this well-made porn site.

Should You Follow This Fap Blog?

As anyone can see from the last portion of this review, we do not have much of anything negative to say about this smut-related site. It should be understood that there it may not appeal to everyone, however. Or rather, since much of the content focuses on pop culture, certain smut junkies may find certain articles to be distracting or “click bait-y.”

That said, this is a phenomenal site overall, and it is no surprise it has not only survived but thrived for this long. We highly recommend you check out Fleshbot and award it a solid five out of five hands.
