Ever since its beginning, the world wide web has constantly changed and undergone bouts of creative destruction. Founded way back in the middle of 1994, Sex.com was secured from Network Solutions by the same man who created Match.com, Gary Kreman.

For context, this was a whole year before eBay and Amazon were on the scene.

However, while the coveted domain was secured, the site itself was largely undeveloped for months. Further, after a persistent campaign to secure the site fraudulently, one Stephen Cohen grabbed Sex.com, which led to a five-year legal battle.

Having regained control of his site at the beginning of the new millennium legally, though securing funding from fines from Network Solutions, took several more years. Plus, though he was often ruled against in court, Cohen has continuously attempted to avoid paying fines to Kreman.

Nonetheless, Kreman relaunched Sex.com in mid-2012 as the definitive porn-version of Pinterest.

A Modern Site For Modern User

True to its inspiration, Sex.com does possess a design remarkably similar to Pinterest, both with respect to outline and quality. Though if you scroll fast enough, the homepage will eventually "bottom out," each picture and video page does have a default to an infinite scroll format.

Further, the way that the menu is set up makes navigating around the site a bit easier compared to Pinterest. Of course, the copious amounts of uncensored nudity makes this site considerably better, as well.

We will get into their many search features later, but it seems to us that filtering results on the homepage can be done with just a couple of clicks. For one, by toggling through the Filter feature – which displays only videos, pics, or GIFS – coupled with the Sort feature – which displays what is popular recently, from the current week, month, year, and all-time – makes finding the best flesh footage tremendously easier.

This Is A Sex Site Which Has A Mission Statement

Obviously, the primary purpose and "common goal" of Sex.com is to upload, share, and promote the content of gorgeous, nude women. Of course, the most prominent type of uploads are photos, and there are still plenty of videos and GIFs posted as well. Sex Stories takes you to Literotica, Sex Games to Dirty Games, and VR Porn Sites seems to be a promo page for several virtual reality platforms. They all seem to be interesting in their own right but do not have anything to do with Sex.com itself.

Also, the Sex Deals link at the top of the page, while it does provide some nice savings, takes you offsite to iDealgasm. Hardly an ideal use of space, we think, when you are trying to build a brand which is supposed to be the porno version of Pinterest.

However, one thing which will take off-site but is certainly not clickbait, and worth checking out, is the Twitter link. There Sex.com' staff posted trailers, preview pics, and other smutty material from their site regularly.

Or at least they used to.

For some reason, despite having over 100,000 followers, Sex.com's Twitter account went dormant a while back since their last tweet was released on 11th of September, 2018. However, just because they have not posted anything yet, does not mean that this page is not worth checking out.

Since their promoted material is still there in photo and video clip form, Sex.com's social media page effectively acts as an excellent porn archive, which you can use to find their finest material from yesteryear.

Watch Out For All Of The Adverts

As previously stated, there are several spam links located all over the site, and there are many adverts placed on nearly every page. We know that this is to make revenue to keep this free-to-use platform functioning, but we do think that there is a certain acceptable threshold when it comes to an acceptable number of ads on a page.

While not quite at tube levels, the number of banner ads on Sex.com is quite high, and yet they blend in with the site making it easier to click on them accidentally. The reason for this is because many of the adverts are for highly realistic looking 3D porn GIFs and pics, which look a lot like the legit links to site photos.

On the other hand, I suppose this incarnation of Sex.com is better than the number of ads on-site during the Cohen era.

Getting An Account Is Simple

As you might expect, getting an account on this site is incredibly simple. All you need to do is generate a nickname (read: username) and password, and submit your email. That is it. Then you can verify your account and start uploading, pinning, sharing, and commenting.

Looking At The Site On Different Devices

Despite the fact that Sex.com was made during the days of dialup, that does not mean that their site has not been optimized for more modern net-capable devices. And unlike some high-quality websites which have not made the mobile-version transition well, Sex.com looks fantastic on smartphones and tablets.

What We Like About Sex.com

When reviewing a site, there are three primary things that we focus on first with assessing a website. The first is site design coupled with the color scheme; second, is the quality and quantity of pornographic content; third, is interactivity.

When it comes to Sex.com’s aesthetics, they are absolutely top-notch and arguably better than the site, which inspired Sex.com's creators. Second, the amount of content, not too mention the quality, is surprising. Not only that, but the level of consistency is astounding. While we have not checked even a sizable fraction of the number of photos, it seems that all of them – or at least the most recent ones – are all in high-quality. The same is true for the thousands of GIFs and video clips.

Of course, with tens of thousands of users, there are dozens of new uploads every single day, if not every single hour.

Third, navigating all over the site is extremely fluid. Furthermore, there are several efficient and easy to use tools to find whatever it is you are looking for. For instance, the selection of trending category tags is quite comprehensive, and the popularity filters are an easy way to locate phenomenal content from different periods of time.

What We Hate About Sex.com

To be honest, there is not too much to dislike about this website, especially if you are a social media junkie or a fan of picture porn. That said, the number of misleading spammy links which take you off-site is a bit obnoxious.

With respect to the number of ads, their placement within other pictures, and the fact that they blend in with real pictures is a problem as well. From a business standpoint, that makes sense, but we cannot help but think that it interferes with the user experience.

While not as common, we have also found that there is a minor problem with popups, though not with random redirects.

How We Would Make Sex.com Better

Though well designed, there are a few ways in which we think Sex.com could be improved. For one, the sheer number of adverts could be consolidated into a smaller number of ads. Granted, this might decrease revenues in the short term, we think that this would improve user interaction and thus boost revenue levels over time.

Further, we would take much stronger steps to get rid of the obnoxious levels of popups as well. Lastly,

we would also fix the problem with the GIF on/off toggle located near the top right of the screen.

Does This Porn Platform Get Our Endorsement?

Overall, Sex.com lives up to its reputation and is the best thing to happen to social media since the advent of social media. There are some issues that we have like the overwhelming number of adverts all over the site. Furthermore, despite the recommended posting guidelines, we have also noticed that not all users include source links for many of their posts.

However, the massive and largely friendly community is a great draw, as is the sheer amount of content you can choose from. The methods of interaction are incredibly streamlined, and so is signing up. For these reasons, we give Sex.com four and a half out of five hands and do think you all should check this platform out.
